Hervey Bay is a coastal seaside town made up of 5 fishing villages which have grown together over time. As such, Hervey Bay has no real centre of town, but is sprawled over about 15kms of protected coastline. When looking for Hervey Bay accommodation, actual location is not of great concern, as there will be no more than a handful of facilities available within walking distance of wherever you end up.

Undercover, secure parking is provided on-site for free, however, the parks are quite small and very tight, so if you have a boat or trailer it will probably need to be left on the street.
Akama is situated at the marina end of town, and is walking distance to the Hervey Bay Whale Watching boats and Boat Club and marina restaurants. Whilst it is at the extremity of Hervey Bay, there are enough facilities nearby to satisfy most wishes, but like all Hervey Bay accommodations you will need some form of transport to really explore the town and region.
Overall Akama is certainly the pick of the 5 star choices available in Hervey Bay. If you have 5 star taste (and a 5 star budget), we can thoroughly recommend Akama Resort - as do most of their previous guests! Akama is consistently rated as the number 1 Hervey Bay accommodation by online guest reviews (Trip Advisor).
Accommodation rates are seasonal, with Ocean View Apartments slightly more expensive than Pool View Apartments. The views are nice, but if you will be in Hervey Bay for a short stay, and out touring Fraser Island and whale watching, you won't have many daylight hours left to enjoy the views anyway!

Accommodation
Akama's apartments are all large and well appointed, with a light and modern feel. The large bi-fold doors open up from the living room to a fantastic balcony complete with BBQ and views over the pool and out to Fraser Island (views are best from the Ocean View Apartments on higher levels).
All apartments are kitted out with modern appliances (instructions are close-by for all!), flat-screen TVs, plush and comfortable furniture, and are spotlessly clean. Kitchens are spacious and well stocked with quality utensils, cutlery and crockery and everything you would need if you were actually keen to cook your own meals whilst on holidays. Bathrooms are large and bright, and sparkling clean. All apartments have their own laundry.
Akama also features a large and inviting swimming pool and spa area. The pool is heated during winter months, and the spa is huge - big enough for at least 8 people. There is a well-appointed communal BBQ area close to the pool, however there are no gym or fitness facilities within the complex.
